Cash & Gage’s Mom asked:

I feel like a hypochondriac now because I actually called them last week for a different reason. For a good deal of my pregnancy I would get dizzy spells and see spots in my perifiel (sp?) vision. I know this is a sign of preeclampsia but I have always had pretty low blood pressure when I go in for check ups (avg anywhere from 104/60 to 114/60). Well for the past 2 days I have had dizzy spells so bad I come close to blacking out and the spots and today I am so physically exhausted it is hard to stand. Should I be worried? Last week I called my doctor and told the nurse I was having random contactions over the weekend and then a ton of pressure on Monday and she said it was “very concerning” and I needed to come in right away. It obviously scared me. When I got there they checked my cervix (completely closed) and gave me the fetal fibronectin test that came back neg and said I was fine. Am I just too paranoid? I am afraid that when the nurse calls back she will scare me again.
Oops sorry, I will be 31 weeks on Thursday.

layla983 asked:

I need to know if I’m paranoid or just too hormonal. I’m 13 weeks along today. I started having almost stabbing pains, along with other cramping, they were so bad they woke me up. I called the “24 nurse line” at 7am & was told they’d page the nurse & call back.

Nurse never called. I called back about 40 minutes later & was told it was an answering service & they failed to contact anyone else. I was then told my doctor wasn’t in until 10, to call back then if I continued to have pain & lay in bed till then. I called about 10:15, they said they’d call me back after talking to my doctor. At 12 they call me back & AGAIN tell me they’d check with my doctor. At 1:30 they FINALLY call me back & say I need to stay home from work for a couple days & rest, no need to come in for any type of work up.

Pains continued, although they aren’t as bad. Im very upset with how this was handled, but being my first pregnancy I dont know if I’m overreacting. Was this anything close to proper response?
I wasn’t trying to get a diagnosis, I was simply trying to get an appointment. In every convo I had with people I asked if I should go to the ER, they said no unless I started having bleeding. I was told from day 1 if any of the things that were on a list they gave me happened I was to call the 24 nurse hotline & they’d tell me if I should go to the ER or make me an appointment for that morning. The waiting was simply them trying to figured out if they wanted to get me in for an appointment or not. I’ll fully admit I have no clue to do in these situations, first pregnancy & the few prengant women I’ve been around have had zero problems. Totally out of my zone of knowledge here.

quickremodel asked:

I am not thrilled with my obgyn. I have only seen her once in my 19 weeks of pregnancy (at week 13) and she commented that I had a “very short cervix”. She did not elaborate and when I went home to research it I found alarming facts, including greater chances of late miscarriage and preterm birth. I also read things that I may have to do like bed rest and not being allowed to exercise. The only other advise she gave me was that prenatals are not necessary if you eat well, which I don’t think is good advice.I had another appt at 17 weeks, but the doctor was delivering a baby and I was not rescheduled until 21 weeks.
I have been trying to call the office for a week to follow up on the research. I did get one call that I missed and immediately returned, but it was the answering service. When I call the office the only option is to leave a message you can never talk to anyone.
This is my first pregnancy so I don’t fit the mold of having a “short cervix”, but if I in fact I do, an exam can verify and a stitch needs to put in place by 20 weeks, which is a week away..
I would like to change doctors, but I don’t know how to find a good one and I don’t know anyone who has had a baby. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in SD county or tell me how to go about finding a good one? Am I expecting too much from my doctor? Thank you very much.

i can’t get to my doctors answering service, but i can’t keep anything down, no liquids, no solids.

what should i do?
i feel like i have the flu and i’m worried about getting dehydrated. i’ve had morning sickness for awhile now but i could still drink fluids, now i can’t.

My eye doctor could not be reached (no answering service picked up) when the question came to mind tonight, and I had no one to ask. I am applying cold packs to help with the redness and swelling.

Everything else with him is fine he just keeps getting a fever and loosing it. If he goest 10 mins after feeding time still crying. Diapers are normal. Everything else is fine.

Jaycee G asked:

My sister was seeing a doctor for her baby blues and moodswings after the birth of my nephew. About two weeks before she ran out of medication she called the doctor to get a refil. She left numerous messages with the receptionist and on the answering service but he never returned her call. She also called in the refils to the pharmacy and they were not able to get ahold of the doctor either. Eventually she ran out of her medications and went on a downward spiral. She ended up having to be hospitalized for her condition. Does she have a legal standpoint to sue the doctor?
She was in the process of switching doctors and had an appointment for Jan 8 but since she had not seen the doctor yet they were not able to give her any medications and stated that she would have to get ahold of her current doctor until she can be seen by the new doctor.
