I called my daughter`s pediatrician on a Saturday morning for advice, I got an answering service, and the doctor called me back right away. She called in for a medication. Now, 3 weeks later we got a $30 bill for it. We have good HMO, and I never ever had to pay for anything, other than copay. Is that normal to charge for a phone call?

That is ridiculous. I’ve never had to pay for a phone call.
No it is not normal for doctors to charge for phone calls that is why they pay their answering service you should not be getting a bill I would question the doctor
i don’t think that they do. i have never been charged for calling a doctor, it all depends who you call.i think that u probably got ripped off or they charged you for something else.
It is sometimes applied only if you call after hours and it wasnt really something you needed to call for….so depending on what it is they CAN charge you but normally they don’t….I would call and talk with the dr about it!!! Good luck
I have never heard of this. I pay less for my daughter’s Dr. to see her in person.
You shouldn’t have to pay for advice.
It must’ve been calling and coming in for medication that is the fees.
You should not be charged for contacting your doctor.
It’s not normal unless it’s not a private practice and it’s a commercial medical practice.
NO THAT IS NOT NORMAL–MAYBE THAT BILL WAS FROM A PAST APPOINTMENT DEAR–LOOK AT THE DATE OF SERVICE ON THE STATEMENT YOU RECEIVED. OR, CALL THE OFFICE TO FIND OUT WHAT THE CHARGE WAS FOR. NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I BEEN CHARGED FOR A PHONE CALL TO A DRS OFFICE. THAT IS NOT RIGHT IN MY BOOK!!!
No way! I would fight that bill. That is completely ridiculous. Me personally (I’ve been known to cut my nose off to spite my face many times….) I would find a new doctor.
